History Walk
A Contemporary History Of The CBD
Sunday 26th February 2017

In the words of our own Sister Eileen Dover, "They say that if you don't know where you've come from, you will never know where you are going!” With this in mind, the Sisters focused their annual History Walk on the CBD area of Sydney in the 20th Century. As always the assembled gathered faithful were regaled by wellknown historian and activist Cardinal Robert French with personal anecdotes, reminiscences and background information about our fair city also shared by the sisters and some of the gathered faithful.

This year we had visitors from several Australian centres as well as more exotic locals such as Spain, and Poland. After assembling in Lang Park the group of gathered faithful meandered the streets of the CBD stopping at various locations along the way including Wynyard Park, Ash Street (site of Sydney's first gay rights demonstration in 1971), Lee's Ct and concluding at Hyde Park. “This history walk was a great reminder of how far we've come!!"

After the walk a number of the gathered faithful headed for the Columbian Hotel where thirsts were quenched and hungers satisfied! We hope we will have the pleasure of your company on future history walks.
