Mardi Gras Workshop Blessing

Tuesday 9th January 2024

The OPI was invited to bless the Mardi Gras workshop at its new residence in Leichhardt Anno Dingo Tuesday 09th January 2024.
This has become a bit of a tradition for the OPI and something that Mardi Gras has a regular place marker now in its calendar of events. In attendance on the day were Sisters Salome of the Ninth Mystic Rhinestone, Carmen Cider and Rowena Keeper of the Holy Doyley.

The blessing went off script slightly as there was a last-minute onsite request made of the Sisters to provide an ad-hoc send off for the decommissioning or in Sisters lingo a de-consecration of the Mardi Gras medical trailer fondly referred to as “Barbie”. Barbie had been an integral part of the Mardi Gras Medical Team for many years housing the team’s kit for providing care at many party venues including Fair Days, Mardi Gras Parties, Laneway Parties and on one occasion at the Bingham Cup Rugby when the event was hosted by the Sydney Convicts Rugby Club in 2014.

Sister Rowena KOTHD was prevailed upon to oversee and provide for this bitter sweet moment of letting “Barbie” set sail for its last time before heading off on its journey to Mistress Simms Metal Recyclers. Safe travels Barbie!

Sister Rowena also took an opportunity for a sticky beak at Sister Carmen Cider’s new nun mobile and like all nosey Sisters couldn’t help checking under the hood to inspect Sister Carmen’s wares only to find that he was harbouring a smelly and dirty dipstick that needed attention. Sister Rowena offered to help Sister Carmen resolve his dirty dipstick issues!
