History Walk

Celebrating Over Forty Years Of Activism & The Colonial Sodomite

Sunday 24th February 2013

The Sydney Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence focused the annual History Walk for 2013 on more than forty years of activism and the period of the colonial sodomite!

A small group of about twenty visitors and locals gathered outside the Hyde Park Barracks to join the Sisters for this informative, at times humorous and sometimes provocative tour of parts of the city centre lead by Cardinal French, our very own resident historian.

As always reminiscences by members of the gathered faithful were also encouraged and listened to with great interest, adding more colour to our perambulation.

This year a very special treat for our visitors kicked of the tour with a visit to the hammock room of the barracks itself where convicts were housed in very close quarters indeed!

The Sisters would like to thank everyone who attended and hope to see you all again next year.
