Vale Mother Abyss -Monsignor Porkamadonna

It is with sadness that we acknowledge the sudden and unexpected passing of Mother Inferior, also known as Mother Abyss, Monsignor Porkamadonna, Sister Venus de Lilo and Sister Volupta at his home on Monday 15th May.

Fabian was co-founder of the Sydney Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (SPI), later Order of Perpetual Indulgence (OPI). He was an iconic figure in the Australian and particularly Sydney LGBTI community and a key figure in many community groups.

Although there does seem to be some confusion surrounding the exact date, either the 17th October 1981 (or Saturday 14th November 1981), Sister Volupta [Fabian], Sister Mary Medusa, Sister May Call of the Wild, Sister Mary Sit On My Face and Sister Gerontophilia Extravaganza gathered as the first public manifestation of the Sydney Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (later Order of Perpetual Indulgence), for a picnic at Long Nose Point, Birchgrove [now known as Yurulbin Park] but affectionately called Long Nun Point by the OPI since then. The Sydney House became the second world house following the Founding Order and Mother House in San Francisco in 1979.
