Saturday 7th September 1991
On the 7th September 1991, members of the Sisters (of the Order) of Perpetual Indulgence joined a pro-choice rally in response to Fred Nile's "Procurement of a Miscarriage Bill". The march went from the Town Hall to Sydney Hospital led by the Women's Abortion Action Campaign.
Thankfully Nile's Bill failed, but it was another 28 years until on September 26th 2019, the New South Wales Parliament finally passed the "Reproductive Health Care Reform Bill 2019". The Bill, which became the "Abortion Law Reform Act 2019 (NSW)", amended the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW) and decriminalised abortion.
