On Saturday 24th August Anno Dingo 2024, at the Paddington RSL, the Harbour City Bears held an awards night where they were to choose their Harbour City Bear winner for 2024.
The Sisters were cordially invited to bless the opening of this important event for the Bear community. The blessing was conducted at 7.30 pm where the blessing was crafted and led by our esteemed Sr Ophelia C Ring, and supported by attending Sisters Rowena KOTHD, Salomé of the 9th Mystic Rhinestone and Sr Eileen Dover of the Double Cross. To be noted Sr Eileen Ds husband was in full regalia as his glamazonian alter ego Miss Kitty Devine, sparkling with each sashay across the floor.
There were four contestants vying for the title and each was subjected to a range of pop quiz questions – bordering on psych profiling assessment’s and the ubiquitous home-grown talent show portion of the evening before a final choice was made.
The Sisters enjoyed the evening, the entertainment and the opportunity to mix with the gathered faithful. Salomé seemed to be enjoying catching up with a neighbourhood chap named Tim. Tim seemed to be eyeing off another member of the gathered faithful at the same time he was chatting with Salomé. Sr Ophelia was being physically accosted by another member of the Bear community, (he didn’t seem to mind this too much) but this same Bear was insisting that Sr Rowena was behaving in a way that was in-decorous and was admonished for not being prim and proper enough in a way that befitted a Sister’s behaviour in public within the community (go figure)!
The Sisters lamented the absence of Sr Beef Cheeks from the manifestation because we were hoping to auction him off to the Bears as a fund-raising exercise – but alas it was not to be.
Congratulations to all contestants, and thanks to the Harbour City Bears for having us! A pleasant night was had by all.
